NEWS - August 2014

I had a most amazing time in the Kimberley this year. All up, I had six weeks out at Digger's Rest Station with my friends Roderick and Alida. It was great to have my time there dotted with a few local gigs, meaning I was able to play some of my Kimberley inspired songs to the people who live and breathe the Kimberley.

I'm so happy that my new guiding business also ran two very successful trips in that time, and we were lucky to have as one of our guests, a fellow who came to Australia as a refugee from Vietnam in 1977. When he saw it, he remembered that Wyndham was the port that his little fishing boat had landed at, all that time ago. We were honoured to be able to reunite him with Wyndham people who were present and who helped on that day in 1977. A truly amazing story.

A few donations are coming in for my recording fund and I'm so grateful to the people who have generously donated. I believe I have the songs now for a great new recording, I just need the funding, so if you can help at all, we can make it happen together. Now, I must go, as I'm delivering flyers to help fund said record!

but grew up in the north west of Sydney, between the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury River. As a kid, she hiked in the mountains with her family and rode horses on her grandparents farm.

Rachel was always a writer of sorts, so when she took up guitar (much later than most) songs naturally followed. Rachel tells the stories of real people, places and events. She draws you in with compelling lyrics and imagery and leaves you with the lingering feeling you've been there or met them.

Songs from Rachel's first recording, the EP, “Long Distance” have been shortlisted in various song competitions as has the subsequently recorded single, Little Stone's Throw.

Influences include Woody Guthrie, Billy Bragg, John Prine, Guy Clark, Gillian Welch, REM, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, The Pigram Brothers and Kasey Chambers.

CROWD FUNDING
My fan base is still too small to support a crowd funding campaign,
HOWEVER if you would like to contribute to the next recording (or just give encouragement) you are more than welcome to do so!
For all donations over $25, I'll send a copy of the new CD to you in the post as well as email an advance copy of the first track recorded. Hosting a house concert is also a great way to support the making of the new recording!
