House Concerts.
What are they?
 
A House Concert is great way to enjoy live music with your friends, in your own home. It is as simple as throwing any party at your home and inviting friends. It's a concert type that is really taking off around the world as people begin to realise the advantages of staging these small events themselves. For a small individual contribution (usually $10-$15), guests get to experience up close, some top musicians without the high costs, travel, crowds, parking etc of commercial venues. They also get to chat with the performer, have a CD signed, etc.
 
 
How many people do I need to invite?
 
There really is no upper limit on guests however a minimum of 20 guests is needed to cover musician costs and for a great house concert atmosphere. If your property can accommodate more, go for it! 
 
 
I'm not sure if I have enough room at my house
 
The average sized lounge room can accommodate quite a few people. Use whatever chairs you have, plus bean bags even pillows on the carpet (for the youngsters!) A roomful of people in your home (especially in the middle of winter) creates a lovely atmosphere. Some hosts ask guests to bring a camping chair. Verandahs and outdoor spaces are great too. 
   
 
Is location an issue?
 
I'll perform at House Concerts within 120kms of Perth. Beyond that, I'll travel anywhere but may need assistance with costs.
 
 
What are the food arrangements?
 
It is up to you, the host, whether you want to cater fully or have guests bring a plate, BYO meat or drinks etc.
 
 
Is it a solo performance or will there be a band?
 
I can perform solo, as a duo or a trio, the only limit being space at your venue. Also, with additional musicians to be paid, your guests will need to contribute more. (Up to a maximum total cost of $30 per person.*)
 
 
What do I, the host, 
need to provide?
 
I will arrange all necessary PA equipment, photos and an artist bio suitable for email or print. You will need to provide seating for guests and stools for musicians. I will also need access to a powerpoint or extension lead. 
 
 
How much will it cost?
 
Your expenses will include your catering costs plus your individual contribution to the musicians. How simple or fancy your catering, is up to you.
 
The payment of musicians is covered by all those in attendance and will vary depending on how many musicians play at your event, and whether a PA is needed.
